About Us
Ernestine Tate, Owner and proprietor of The Cherish House, always enjoyed taking care of people. Before the passing of her late husband Clay Allen Tate, he had encouraged his enterprising wife to pursue her dreams of one day owning and operating her own Bed & Breakfast. It was always in her plans to create a space that folks could come and stay while visiting in town. She officially opened The Cherish House in late 2012.

Mrs. Tate is the owner of the Cherish House Bed and Breakfast, located in her three-bedroom home in the Highlands Manor neighborhood in northeast Gainesville.
Tate, who retired from Shands at UF in 2010 as a bill processor, said she put the idea on the shelf while she focused on her tutoring business. It wasn't long after before Mrs. Tate realized it was never too late to pursue her dreams of owning a lodge with a Bed & Breakfast "feel". She wanted to create an escape from the local city limits for her guests.

Mrs. Tate wanted to provide travelers with a peaceful getaway while staying in Gainesville. The purpose - to allow couples , and spouses a tranquil place where they can stay and refocus on one another.

There are plenty of places to enjoy while staying at The Cherish House, but the greatest rewards are in providing compfort to guests who could really use some "down" time. Her recent guests couldn't agree more with her hand's-on, Southern hospitality. It is guaranteed that once you commit yourself to staying here, you will make The Cherish House your hotel of choice whenever you're in the neighborhood.
